The vines are planted on high, steep hills where sometimes even just standing is difficult. The wine growers have worked hard and fought to turn these hills into the production area for this splendid wine. The area includes 15 municipalities over an area of about 20,000 hectares.

The vines are grown only on the sunny, mainly southern sides of the hills at an altitude between 50 and 500 metres while the northern sides are covered in dense woodland. The area contains various crus such as the celebrated Superiore di Cartizze and Rive, made from grapes grown exclusively in a single municipality or part of it.
Conegliano Valdobbiadene DOCG has an inimitable elegance with a pale straw colour, moderate body and characteristic fresh bouquet of fruit and flowers. The wine is produced in three versions, Sparkling, Semi-sparkling and Still. The Sparkling is the most famous of these and by far the most successful. It is produced in three versions, Brut, Extra Dry and Dry based on sugar residue. The Brut is the driest while the Dry is the softest.
